Huanglianggou Fm
Type Locality and Naming
The type section is located at the Shengligou Valley to the north of Qitai County, Xinjiang. It was named by Yang Wenxiao et al., in 1964.
Lithology and Thickness
Clastics. Composed of interbeds of yellow-green and grey-green conglomerate and sandy siltstone, intercalated with thin-bedded sandstone and carbonaceous siltstone and marl. It is characterized by the occurrence of micro-conglomerate and is different from its underlying Pingdiquan Fm. Thickness is 203 m.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
Disconformable contact to the underlying Pingdiquan Fm.
Upper contact
Contact to the overlying Lower Triassic Series (Shangcangfanggou Gr) being conformable or disconformable
Regional extent
Distributed in western and central parts of the Jiangjunmiao mini-region, while extending from the Zhangpenggou area easterly to the areas of Liukeshu, Huanglianggou, Guxingliang and Shiqiantan the granularity of the clastics is getting finer from west to east, with a thickness of 390 m.
